Cumbria Trading Standards have received a report from a resident who was cold called by a claim management company offering to refund PPI money. The company have asked the resident to purchase a pay safe card for the amount of £200 which will be handed over in exchange for a cheque of £4,000.
If you receive a call of this nature or similar please do not engage with the caller or anyone who may come to your property.
Cumbria Trading Standards and Cumbria Police advice is simple; don’t hand over any money or personal information to any cold callers whether on the telephone or on the doorstep. Often these companies prey on the most vulnerable so please look after those in your community.
