Cold Callers Selling Household Items - Long Marton area

Alert message sent 28/03/2019 16:09:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria County Council

Cumbria Trading Standards have received a report of a male cold calling door to door in the Long Marton, Appleby area this afternoon offering household goods.

Consumers should be extremely cautious when approached by cold callers offering to sell goods or services.  They can often use persuasive or aggressive tactics to get you to purchase goods that you might not necessarily want or need.

Trading Standards advice is to always say NO to any cold callers, try to avoid answering the door and to look out for elderly or vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

If you require further advice or wish to report any suspicious activity please contact Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06 or visit  Alternatively you can contact the Police on 101.
